Aurelijus Morkevicius

Dr. Aurelijus Morkevicius, Industry Process Consulting Director (Dassault Systemes)

Aurelijus Morkevicius has 18 years of experience in systems and software engineering. Currently, he is a director of industry business consultants for systems engineering in Dassault Systems, CATIA brand. His areas of expertise are model-based systems and software engineering, as well as defense architectures (DoDAF, NAF, UAF). Aurelijus works with companies such as Aerospace Corporation, Airbus, BAE Systems, Boeing, MITRE, and other. Aurelijus is INCOSE ASEP and OMG Certified UML, Systems Modeling and BPM professional. He is also the co-chairman and the leading architect for the current OMG UAF standard. Aurelijus is also the main author of MagicGrid framework. He is representative of Dassault Systemes in INCOSE and NATO Architecture Capability Team. Aurelijus received PhD in Information Systems Engineering from Kaunas University of Technology in 2013. Aurelijus is a Professor of practice in the same university, book author, author of multiple articles, and a speaker in multiple conferences


James Martin

Jeffrey W. Eggers, DISL, Air Force ISR Chief Architect

Mr. Eggers is a Defense Intelligence Senior Level executive and the Chief Architect for the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance & Cyber Effects Operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington D.C. Mr. Eggers develops future architectures for the Air Force ISR enterprise and its integration with combatant and national partners. Mr. Eggers retired from the Air Force as a Colonel in 2011 after 27 years of service. He most recently served as the Mission Assurance Executive at the National Reconnaissance Office. Mr. Eggers is a distinguished graduate with honors from United States Air Force Academy class of 1984. He attended the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training program and served three tours flying the A-10 Thunderbolt II and one tour flying the MQ-1 Predator. His A-10 experience culminated as Chief of A-10 Operational Flight Test where he helped develop and test most of the major upgrades and tactics in use today. In June 2005, he became the first reservist officer to serve as Deputy Commander of the 432nd Operations Group, performing operational, training, and test missions using the MQ-1 and MQ-9 aircraft in support of the global war on terror. As Director of Advanced ISR Capabilities and later ISR Chief Technology Officer at the Pentagon, Mr. Eggers directed numerous rapid innovation programs and sponsored leading-edge research. He was the creator and primary author of the Air Force ISR Horizons program which established the long range ISR and Cyber Intelligence development visions. Mr. Eggers is a Command Pilot with over 3000 hours in 10 aircraft and a Charles Stark Draper Fellow.


James Martin

James Martin, Distinguished Engineer (The Aerospace Corporation)

James N Martin is a member of the UAF Revision Task Force with OMG and was lead editor for the ISO 42020 standard on Architecture Processes. He is an Enterprise Architect and a Principal Systems Engineer at The Aerospace Corporation developing solutions for information systems and for space domain enterprises. He was a key author on the BKCASE project in development of Enterprise Systems Engineering articles for the SE Body of Knowledge (SEBOK). Dr. Martin led the working group responsible for developing ANSI/EIA 632, a US national standard that defined the processes for engineering a system. He previously worked for Raytheon Systems Company and AT&T Bell Labs on airborne and underwater systems and on mobile telecommunication systems. His book, Systems Engineering Guidebook, was published by CRC Press in 1996. Dr. Martin is an INCOSE Fellow and was leader of the Standards Technical Committee. He was founder and was until recently leader of the Systems Science Working Group. He received from INCOSE the Founders Award for his long and distinguished achievements in the field.


Matthew Hause

Matthew Hause, Principal, SSI/INCOSE

Matthew Hause is an SSI Principal and MBSE Technical Specialist, a former PTC Fellow, a co-chair of the UAF group, a member of the OMG SysML specification team, and a thought leader in the use of MBSE. . He has been developing multi-national complex systems for over 45 years as a systems and software engineer. He started out working in the power systems industry and has been involved in military command and control systems, process control, manufacturing, factory automation, communications, SCADA, distributed control, office automation and many other areas of technical and real-time systems. His roles have varied from project manager to developer. His role at SSI includes mentoring, sales presentations, standards development, presentations at conferences, specification of the UAF profile and developing and presenting training courses. He has authored over 100 technical papers on architectural modeling, project management, systems engineering, model-based engineering, human factors, safety critical systems development, mission engineering, virtual team management, product line engineering, systems of systems, systems and software development with UML, SysML and Architectural Frameworks such as UAF, DoDAF and MODAF. He has been a regular presenter at INCOSE, NDIA, the IEEE, BCS, the IET, the OMG, AIAA, DoD Enterprise Architecture, Embedded Systems Conference, and many other conferences. He is also a proud recipient of the INCOSE MBSE Propeller Hat Award.


Laura Hart

Laura Hart, Research Engineer Senior Manager (Lockheed Martin)

Laura E. Hart is a Fellow at Lockheed Martin for Corporate Engineering, enabling Digital Transformation. Laura has over 30 years of industry experience covering a wide spectrum of responsibilities applying Model-Based Systems Engineering across the development lifecycle of complex software and hardware systems. Laura's current focus is leading the Model-based Acquisition (MBAcq) User Group for the standardization of Model-based acquisition across industry though the use of patterns and reference architecture descriptions.  Laura is co-chair of OMG Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) specification team, Adjunct professor Drexel University and NDIA System Engineering Division Vice-Chair.


Richard Wise

Richard Wise, Senior Research Engineer (Georgia Tech Research Institute)

Richard Wise is a Senior Research Engineer at the Georgia Tech Research Institute where he leverages his passion and experience in MBSE to research, educate, and lead teams in the design, analysis, and verification and validation of complex and open systems. He is the instructor for the Systems Modeling with SysML course in the Professional Masters in Applied Systems Engineering graduate degree program of Georgia Tech as well as co-instructor for several professional education short courses. His research interests include concept formulation and expression via metamodels and modeling languages; open system and enterprise architectures; and modeling frameworks, patterns, and libraries.

 


Jaime Bestard

Jaime Bestard, Chief Engineer, Digital Mission Architecture, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Mission Integration

Mr. Jaime Bestard serves as Chief Engineer for Digital Mission Architecture in the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Mission Integration. In this role, he leads all aspects of the development, integration, and analysis of mission architectures to enable advanced capabilities that maintain the technological superiority of our forces in conflict.

Prior to this assignment, Mr. Bestard supported developmental planning at the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Science, Technology and Engineering. His experience includes serving as the Chief of the Weapon Simulation and Analysis Branch within the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), where he led a team of 35 government and over 80 contract personnel in the application of modeling, simulation, wargaming, analysis, and digital engineering capabilities to develop and advance air-launched munitions. He worked with Air Combat Command, Air Force Global Strike Command, and Pacific Air Forces to guide AFRL investments in air-to-air and air-to-ground advanced weapons. Mr. Bestard was the first United States participant in the Engineer and Scientist Exchange Program with Italy, embedded in the Italian General Secretariat of Defense and National Armaments Directorate. He has experience with live fire test and evaluation to improve aircraft combat survivability. Mr. Bestard holds both a Bachelor's and Master's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida. He received Department of the Air Force awards for Civilian Achievement and for Exemplary Civilian Service. Mr. Bestard is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He completed Air University's Air Command and Staff College and he is a certified Engineering and Technical Management practitioner under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act. Mr. Bestard is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Military Operations Research Society, and the National Defense Industrial Association.


Tony Mallia

Tony Mallia, Senior Enterprise Architect, Odyssey Systems Consulting Group, US Air Force (on contract)

Tony Mallia has over 20 years' experience in Model Based Systems Engineering and Enterprise Architecture in Banking, Healthcare and US Military. He assisted OMG in the launch of Model Driven Architecture (MDA) and has published on Enterprise Engineering as the combination of System Design, Enterprise Architecture and Systems Engineering Process. He is a Senior Enterprise Architect for Odyssey Systems Consulting Group on contract with the US Air Force and has a degree in Physics from Imperial College, London.

 


Dr.-Ing. Christian A. von Holst

Dr.-Ing. Christian A. von Holst, Global Tractor Systems Engineering Lead @ John Deere

Christian von Holst is the Global Tractor Systems Engineering Lead at John Deere and responsible for the implementation of Systems Engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering, the method, tool and framework development, process integration and competency development in the Global Tractor Product Engineering organization. He is since about 20 years with john Deere and covers this role since about 7 years and was prior responsible as Global Manager Vehicle Dynamics in the Tractor Product Engineering organization. He is a recognized innovator and holds 68 patents on 16 inventions. Prior to his career at John Deere, he was Product Manager at LMS, a privately hold company for engineering services and software tools which now belongs to Siemens. Before that he found his own business on providing tire models for multi-body simulations for non-automotive applications. Moreover, he is the Director for Associations and Companies Collaboration in the GfSE, the German Chapter of INCOSE. He holds a Diploma in mechanical engineering and a PhD in agricultural Engineering and Hydraulics from the Technical University of Berlin and is Caltech certified Systems engineer.
